Ohio Auditor of State Mary Taylor, CPA, to teach Copley-Fairlawn Middle School students on Accounting for Kids® Day

(Columbus, OH – Nov. 10, 2008) – On Wednesday, more than 200 sixth graders at Copley-Fairlawn Middle School in the Akron suburb of Copley will learn real-world investment concepts from Auditor of State Mary Taylor and other certified public accountants. On Accounting for Kids® Day, students will get the chance to be big time investors, handle thousands of dollars and roll the dice on the stock market.

In the process, they will learn important money management concepts and experience what is takes place daily in the real stock market.

What:

Auditor Taylor will kick off the statewide Accounting for Kids Day when she helps lead Copley-Fairlawn Middle School students in
a fun, high-stakes game of investment.

Accounting for Kids Day, now in its 8th year, is presented each November by The Ohio Society of CPAs. Taylor has helped to expand the program to more schools through statewide participation by her staff.

This year, more than 10,000 elementary students in 400 classrooms will take part in the program.

The goal of Accounting for Kids Day is to help students grow into smart consumers who make good financial decisions at every stage of life.
